momstown Mississauga's Fitness Challenge Results: Moms Working Out Together

momstown Mississauga mamas participated in a Spring Fitness Challenge to get into better shape for bathing suit season! Participating in a group exercise challenge can have benefits beyond getting in shape. There are social and emotional benefits to working out in a group such as motivation, inspiration and the accountability that comes with working with your peers.

Finale Workout Group!

momstown connects moms with the local businesses that serve them. Throughout this challenge momstown Mississauga mamas worked with a variety of exercise studios and personal trainers.

Ada from Mommy and Baby Fitness was the personal trainer who weighed, measured and developed the fitness test by which the results were calculated. Ada shared her personal journey throughout the workouts inspiring the mommies to push themselves to reach their goals.

Mississauga's Top 5 Splashpads and Pools!

momstown Mississauga moms and kids are going to be meeting at Mississauga's Splashpads and pools all summer long. We'll choose a new one each week to visit all over the city to keep cool.
There are 7 outdoor pools and 18 different splash pads so there is sure to be one nearby!

Cooling off at the Square!

Here is a list of our favourite spots to cool off in the city!

1. Celebration Square - The large fountain/reflecting pool outside Mississauga City hall  is Mississauga's only real wading pool. With huge sprayers the fountain is beautiful to look at and terrific for kids to run through! This is a must-do if you want to keep cool this summer.

2. Port Credit Lions Club Pool - With a zero depth entry, a piano and an array of sprayers its a perfect pool for tots to keep cool! There are parent and tot swims for the smaller kids - and they are not as busy as "free swim" times consider checking one out!

3. Huron Park Splashpad and Park  - The splash pad is fun and located near the community centre and ample parking. When you are all cooled off the Park is the real gem of this location. The large shady trees make this picturesque park 10 degrees cooler even on the hottest days of summer.

4. Lake Aquitane Spray Pad and Fitness Trail. If you want to get in a workout you can walk the trail before cooling off at the Splash pad and park. There is a variety of workout equipment along the trail to try!

5. Lakefront Promenade Park There are 2 areas to this large splashpad - one for older children and another for the smaller tots. With an alligator to climb, and fantastic circle sprayers to run through, its a really engaging and fun splash pad.

Fitness Challenge in Mississauga - Moms Working Out Together

momstown Mississauga's workouts during our Spring Fitness Challenge have covered quite a variety of interests! Our Mississauga Mamas have tried Zumba at Zumba Passion, Bootcamp from Mommy and Baby Fitness, a Spinning Class, Bootcamp and Stroller Fit from Urban Fitness Canada.

Our mamas started out being weighed and measured by our Personal Trainer Ada from Mommy and Baby Fitness. Ada then had everyone workout with a fit test, and all participants wrote down their own results. Measuring how many burpees, sit ups, push ups, lunges and squats could be done in a set amount of time had the moms huffing and puffing and sweating! We were astounded after the fit test when Ada then proceeded to lead us in a bootcamp!

Working out in a group setting like that where everyone knows each other was a terrific and very supportive yet fun experience. The moms  have met at different events through our  momstown membership, however this was a chance to connect and finish a conversation without kids interrupting (however a few babies did attend).

Being a mom is hard work and its great to be able to invest some energy into yourself from time to time. The fun and social events such as our Fitness Challenge are a great way to get our members connected with each other and themselves.

Check back on this blog for our Results Blog from the Fitness Challenge where we will outline how many pounds lost, how many inches have been shed and how many more push ups, burpees and squats we can all do 2 months later!
