Finishing the school year is a big milestone. At momstown Mississauga our moms talked about end of school year traditions in their own families. Here are our Top 5 suggestions to mark this special occasion.
1. Dinner Out
Pick the kids up from school and treat everyone to a special night out! Let them pick a family favourite and kick back and relax. It's a treat for you too after all those lunches you've been packing all year long!
2. End of School Party
For the brave hearted, invite some friends over for an afterschool extravaganza. Set up some simple games, and have lots of easy treats on hand like popsicles and cut up fruit to provide fuel for the games! Water balloons would be a very welcome tradition.
3. New Books
First make a list of some new adventures you and your child would like to try. Next go shopping at the local bookstore or library. Continuing to read all summer long will help avoid summer learning loss.
4. Write a Summer Family Bucket List
Want to visit the Zoo? Beach? Canada's Wonderland? Eating ice cream, going swimming in a lake or how about camping? Make a list of what your family wants to do this summer and have fun crossing it off all summer long.
5. Summer Essentials Bucket
Fill a sand bucket with some summer essential items like new sunglasses, skipping rope, bubbles, a mini water gun, sidewalk chalk etc. Leave it by the front door so that your kids will see it when they get home on that last day!
